In 2020, Yamaha announced that it would stop production of the YZF-R6. Much to the disdain of sport bike lovers all over the world, the much-loved R6 would continue life as a track-only motorcycle in the European market. The Tuning Fork Company did, however, release a replacement to the R6 in the form of the YZF-R7.
Based on the same platform as the Yamaha MT-07, the YZF-R7 sports the same CP2 engine. It consists of a 689cc parallel-twin engine equipped with a 270-degree crankshaft. It has a maximum power output of around 73 horsepower, as well as sharp handling characteristics thanks to inverted front forks as well race-ready super sport ergonomics. Its styling is very much similar to that of the R6, too, featuring a menacing front fascia and concealed LED running lights
